A New Home for the Millers

We've moved! Our newest adventure takes us to the thrilling town of Lubbock, TX where we are trying not to pick up y'all! Sydney is loving Kindergarten so much that she hates the weekends, and can't wait until her birthday. Collin is bored out of his mind because Sydney is gone all day long at school, there is no pool to walk down to, and Mom is busy with our newest addition, Sophie. Hopefully he'll be able to get into a pre-school soon (he's on 5 or so waiting lists--sheesh!). Sophie decided to wait until the last minute to grace us with her presence (by force). She showed up August 2nd at 11:09am weighing 7 lbs. 2 oz and measuring 20 in. So far, she's been an OK baby, not the picnic I was hoping for, but we still like her most days! :) Not even 2 weeks later our house was packed up and we were on a plane headed for Lubbock. A week later, Sydney started school and we started settling in. It's been a huge adjustment, but we are loving the people and trying not to miss everything we left behind (our family, our friends, our brand new house, the pool, nice grass, the mountains, elevation changes in general, etc!). Dave is LOVING the new job and seems to be well received and utilized in his new position. He's traveling a bit more, which is sometimes hard on the little wife, but thankfully it's always only a couple days, and then superdad swoops in and saves the day again! As for Me . . .well . . . I'm surviving! It's always weird to be in a new place, and even weirder to not know a soul, but I've made a couple good friends, and everyone here is extremely nice, so it won't be a nightmare! :) We've already had a visit from my Dad, and will be seeing my parents in another week or so for Sophie's blessing. All in all, we are doing just fine! I'm still hoping this is a 3-5 year stint, but everyone here tells us that's what they said too and ended up staying 20 or 30. (SHUDDER) I guess there are worse places to get stuck, but I'm really hoping that is not the case for us! And if we do stay longer. . . I'm building a house with a pool in the backyard! It's the end of September, and we are still in the 80s! Seriously, we do feel extremely blessed that Dave was given this opportunity. Just if you want to visit . . . we'll meet you someplace cool like Dallas or San Antonio!
